The five photographers, Sándor Dobos, András Hajdú, Péter Hapák, Gábor Kasza, and Zoltán Vancsó, were chosen from 59 applicants. The jury in Hungary included Zsolt Szamódy, the director of the Mai Manó Ház; Mariann Mayer, an art historian and curator; Péter Tímár, editor of the professional journal Fotóművészet (Photographer); and Emília Kultsár, Henkel Magyarország communications director.

The works of the five Hungarian finalists will now be submitted to an international jury in Vienna which will pick the winner. The winner will receive a cash prize of EUR 5,000 and a selection of their work will be displayed in an exhibition in Vienna in November.

Henkel, which makes such well-known household brands as Persil, has organised the competition for the fifth year in a row. This year, Henkel again invited submissions of photographs.

The considerable interest shown in the competition suggests that there is indeed a need for socially-aware companies to engage in activities supporting art, Henkel Magyarország communications manager Emília Kultsár said.

Works of the Hungarian finalists may be seen on Henkel?s homepage in Hungary at www.henkel.hu by clicking on ?Vállalatunk? (Our Company), then ?Henkel Art Award?.
