Katalin Kokas, the festival?s artistic director, said the musicians performing had been given free rein, thus there is baroque, romantic and even contemporary music on the programme. This isn?t meant to confuse, rather it should pique listeners? interest, she added.

Musicians who will perform at the festival include Zoltán Kocsis, Miklós Perényi, Alexei Ogrintchouk, Alina Pogostkina, Barnabás Kelemen and Colin Currie.

In addition to the main concerts on the programme, there will be performances of popular music every evening on Kaposvár?s Kossuth Square. The shows, which are free of charge, will feature jazz, gospel, a capella, funk, pop, jazz and folk acts. Among the performers will be Andrea Malek, the Bolyki Brothers, Nagy Laci Gitano and Söndörgö.

Also during the festival, the city?s Agóra Cultural Centre will open an exhibition celebrating the 150 th anniversary of the birth of József Rippl-Rónai, one of Hungary?s most famous painters.
