Altogether 425 films will be shown at the Erdei Ferenc Culture and Conference Centre, the Otthon Cinema in the Kecskemét Youth Culture Centre, City Cinema, the Malom Cinema and the open-air stage in the city square during the festival.

The 9th KAFF will present Hungarian animated films completed in the past two years in a special section. Animated features from other European countries will compete in two categories: television and cinema. The Alternative KAFF Festival will offer young and amateur filmmakers a chance to meet and show their work.

In addition to films in competition, a retrospective of work by József Gémes, who turned 70 this year, will be shown. Béla Ternovszky's classic film Cat City and his Gustav films will be screened on the city's main square. Animated films made for television by the director Kati Macskássy, who died recently, as well as by Ágnes Bálint and István Imre will also be shown.

As many as 500 Hungarian and foreign animated film industry professionals are expected to attend the festival.
