Film school students submitted 1,100 of their works for the selection, but just 17 were selected to participate. The six-member jury awarded first prize to Uruguay's Gustavo Riet for ?Ge and Zeta?, and second prize went to Germany?s Stefan Mueller for ?Mr. Schwartz, Mr. Hazen and Mr. Horlocker?.

Kocsis's short film tells, with little dialogue, the story of a young virus researcher (Gergely Bánki) who is infected during his work. Although experiencing no pain, he is quarantined in hospital, where he realises how empty human relationships are.

The Cinéfondation was led by Russian director Andrei Konchalovski and included actress Sandrine Bonnaire, director Tim Burton, actor Daniel Brühl, director Souleymane Cisse and composer Zbigniew Preisner.
