The centre near San Francisco is a major institution on the west coast for music education based on the philosophy and method developed by Hungarian composer and music teacher Zoltan Kodaly (1882-1967), consul general Balazs Bokor said in a statement.
The centre has won its international reputation in teaching the method for the past 40 years to a number of Americans who now teach in countries around the world.
The Kodaly method is known for its sequential development of skills from childhood, with an emphasis on music literacy and a singing-based curriculum.
