Mayor Gábor Zombor said the memorial erected between the Reformed and Catholic churches in central Kecskemét demonstrate the city's dedication to tolerance and cooperation. These are the virtues that the city can build its future on, he added.
After studying at the University of Krakow, Végh returned home to Kecskemét and eventually became its chief justice. In this post, he played an important role in enabling the city's residents to build a new Reformed church next to the Catholic church.
The memorial was made by Kecskemét-born sculptor Zsuzsa Szemők
Kossuth Award winning composer Sándor Szokolay and graphic artist János Kass also delivered speeches at the inauguration ceremony.
