Lajos Bertók, 40, Dies Tragically

Lajos Bertók died on Monday, the Budapesti Kamaraszínház told the Hungarian News Agency (MTI).

Bertók was born on May 1, 1966, in Debrecen, in northeast Hungary. He was awarded the Jászai Mari Prize to recognise his theatrical achievements in 2004. His roles included Hamlet in Hamlet, the Prince of Denmark, Harold in Harold and Maude, the father in The Blind Ones, Poprishchin in Diary of Madman, and Raskolnikov in Crime and Punishment.

His film roles include Zafir (1989), Our Love (2000), Little Town (2000), Beyond the Bend (2002), City of Gold (2002), Ultra (2003), Porcelain Doll (2003), The Real Santa (2005) and Hunting for Englishmen (2006).
