Lehár Operetta Competition Winners Announced

Polish soprano Katarzyna Mackiewicz won in the prima donna category, the Hungarian Gergely Boncsér took the bon vivan prize, and Tamara Kotova and Vladimir Jaros were the winners in the soubrette-buffo category.

 
The Budapest Operetta Musical Theatre, member theatres of the European Music Theatre Union and the Cluj-Napoca Hungarian Opera were co-production partners in the competition.
 
The jury for the contest was comprised of Yury Schwarzkopf, director of the Musical Comedy Theatre of Saint Petersburg, Gábor Miklós Kerényi, director of the Budapest Operetta Musical Theatre, György Selmeczi, head of the musical theatre training at the Theatre and Film Academy, Adam Novak, general director of the Karlín Theatre of Prague, Dagmar Livorová, teacher of opera and operetta at the Conservatory of Bratislava, Wolfgang Schaller, general director of the Operetta Theatre of Dresden, and the music critic Eva Slaninkova.
