Lili Rendy Foldes died on Saturday at the age of 96.
The late Foldes worked as a journalist in the 1930s in New York where she met Andor Foldes. After the 1992 death of Foldes, who was closely associated with the music of Bela Bartok and a respected interpreter of the Viennese Classical composers, Lili Rendy dedicated herself to nourishing his husband's legacy in Hungary. She founded the Andor Foldes Piano Competition and donated a rich collection of family relics to the Budapest Obuda Museum's Andor Foldes memorial room.
She received the European Foundation's award in 2004.
