English

The plaque, the initiative of András Zsigmond, Hungary?s honorary consul in Liverpool, was placed on the city?s Playhouse, the earlier site of the Theatre Royal, where Liszt once performed.

Zsigmond said support for the plaque, which marks the 200th anniversary of Liszt?s birth, was ?overwhelming?.

Liszt performed at the Theatre Royal on December 1, 1840. He returned to the city 40 years later.
