Theatre director Tamás Balikó walked on stage during an important scene in The Lost Letter to tell the audience what happened and describe the backdrop they should imagine, local daily Új Dunántúli Napló reported.

The problem was temporarily fixed the following day, but it is just one of several malfunctions - some of them dangerous - that have taken place at the theatre recently.

A recent review of the theatre's structure commissioned by the local council found action must be taken immediately if the building is not to become a threat.

The theatre's last renovation was in 1987.
