Knopfler will come to Budapest as part of his European tour Kill To Get Crimson (KGTC), which covers 12 cities across the continent. This will not be the first Budapest concert for Knopfler, who has Hungarian roots.
Knopfler, who came in 27th on a ranking by Rolling Stone of the Hundred Best Guitarists of All Time, is best known for his role in Dire Straits, which produced hits such as Sultans of Swing, Romeo and Juliet, Private Investigations, Money for Nothing, Walk of Life and Brothers in Arms. Knopfler worked together with former band member Guy Fletcher on his latest album, released in the autumn of 2007.
Knopfler originally studied to be a journalist, and he even interned at the Yorkshire Evening Post. But after graduating, Knopfler went to London and soon joined the blues band Brewer's Droop. He then formed his own band, called Café Racers, before setting up the legendary Dire Straits, founded exactly 30 years ago.
Knopfler's solo debut was the album Golden Heart, released in 1996.
