Merlin to Open Season with Festival, Japanese Productions

The Merlin Theatre will join Hungary's biggest theatres as well as independent troupes on Andrássy Avenue on Saturday, September 19, when the street will be closed to motorised vehicles.

 
The Merlin will start its season with a series of productions organised by the Japanese government to mark the 140th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Hungary and Japan and the 50th anniversary of the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The Theatre du Sygne - Euro-Japan Theatre Organisation will perform Shakespeare's Pericles - Prince of Tyre on September 14 and 15, and the Korean Chungwoo theatre ensemble will appear on the Merlin stage on September 23 and 24. The Opera Theater Konnyakuza, established in 1971, will present Opera Metamorphosis on September 30 and October 1. The Theatre Office de Natori will perform Double Nora on October 2.
