Ministry Awards Duna Television HUF 20 million

The first part of the grant will enable Duna Television to subtitle as many as two and a half hours of programming every day until February, Duna Television President László Cselényi said. He added that the broadcaster would also put some of its own resources toward subtitling, though he declined to specify an exact amount.

The second part of the grant will be used to prepare a programme entitled Our Culture Abroad, which will be shown in five-minute segments twice a week until the summer, Cselényi said.

Hiller expressed his appreciation for Duna Television's activities and noted that it had the important task of bringing together ethnic Hungarians around the world. If feedback from the period until February is positive, "we will continue the cooperation," he added.

Cselényi noted that Duna Television plans to make its programmes accessible not only to third-generation or fifth-generation Hungarians, but also to all of the people in neighbouring countries who do not speak Hungarian.
