The HUF 20 million fund will enable the institute to pay honorariums to guest lecturers who organise cultural events, conferences or publish scholarly works, the Balassi Institute said. Funding will be available by application only. The institute will invite the first applications for funding at the end of October.
Currently, there are 43 Hungarian guest lecturers at 36 institutions in 21 countries.
The Balassi Institute was named after the poet Bálint Balassi, "an emblematic figure who symbolises the fact that certain values required for survival can be found even in difficult periods. These values are one's mother tongue, education and culture," according to the institute's director.
