The National Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Zoltán Kocsis, will perform with the young pianist Gergely Bogányi and the Angelica Girls Choir. The soprano Ilona Tokody and the bass Yevgeny Nesterenko, who turned 70 this year, will give a recital in the Miskolc Synagogue. Another highlight on the programme is a performance by the Orthodox Choir of the Moscow Patriarch. Opera and soon-to-be opera fans will enjoy a concert by the Dutch act Epica, who mix classical music with rock.

For children, the festival's organisers have brought the storyteller Gyula Szabó and the Budapest Music Theatre to Miskolc. The Budapest Puppet Theatre will present Bartók's The Wooden Prince and Petrushka by Stravinsky. Miskolc's Wonder Mill Puppet Theatre will perform a piece to Musorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition.

The 24th Graphics Triennale of Miskolc will take place during the Bartók+Slavs 2008 programme, and the City Hall will host an exhibition of works by the wood carver József Merényi.

Also coinciding with the opera festival will be the 7th Wine Festival and Handcrafts Fair of Miskolc, to take place in the city centre.
