The albums bring together images from the vast collection of the news agency's photo archives with each volume containing works by an outstanding photographer from MTI.
The first volume presents the photos from the 1950s of Pal Jonas (1922-1998), who fled Hungary after the 1956 anti-Soviet revolution to settle in the United States.
"The Art of Photojournalism pays tribute to a genre which brings together art and documentary: the images bear the imprint of their time, linked as they are to the new agency's stories. Yet the passage of time has blurred the distinction between photojournalism and fine art photography," Matyas Vince, the president of MTI, said in his foreword to the first volume.
The next volumes to be published in the coming years will be dedicated to Rudolf Jarai, Tibor Cseorgo, Bela Hollenzer, Sandor Mezo and Zoltan Seidner.
