The 63 images have been selected from last year's vast collection of 114,532 pictures from MTI's digital photo bank, said Matyas Vince, the president of MTI, opening the event.
He said that MTI's photo department releases at least 150-200 images to the Hungarian press a day selected from the pictures taken by a staff of 13 full-time photographers or provided by foreign news agencies.
Most of the colleagues are award-winning photographers, three of them, Endre Friedmann, Lajos Soos and Zsolt Szigetvary, have won World Press Photo awards, Vince said.
It is an important task for MTI to offer images not only from its vast archive collection of 13 million negatives but also from recent times, pictures capturing events in politics, culture, sports and other fields.
The exhibition will run until August 8.
