Museum of Ethnography Hosts Greek Day

The event will kick off at 11:00am with speeches by museum director Zoltán Fejős and Greek ambassador to Hungary Dimitrios Kypreo.

 
In the morning, Charitonidis Chariton and Antonopoulos Giorgos will perform Greek dances and the Kariatida Choir will sing. The Ammos ensemble will show traditional instruments from Asia Minor, and Helidonaki will dance to music performed by Maskarades.
 
In the afternoon, the Ilios, Ellinizmos and Helidonaki dance ensembles will show folk costumes and György Diószegi will give a talk on Greeks in Hungary. At 3:30pm, Greek musical instrument maker Varlas Panagiotis will give a presentation. Afterward, visitors can learn Greek dance from members of the Sirtos troupe. Maskarades will take the stage at 6:00pm.
 
The Greek day will feature a display by Greek icon maker Dimitrios Syregkelis, an exhibition of photographs by Gergely Nacsinak and paintings by Lajos Veszeli. Kostopulos Leonidas, with the help of Sinatka, will show visitors how to make pita bread.
 
Visitors will also have the chance to buy Greek crafts and food.
