The conference is the brainchild of Minister of Education and Culture Minister István Hiller, who was inspired by talks with European music export agency leaders at the MIDEM international music fair in Cannes.
MXH has invited music industry insiders from all over the region to the two-day conference. As MXH is the first music export agency in Central and Eastern Europe, there is significant interest in its activities from the Baltic States to the Balkans, said MXH director Fruzsina Szép.
Citing another big step for Hungarian cultural diplomacy, Szép said she had been invited by European Commission's General Director for Education and Culture Odile Quintin to participate in an advisory body which will prepare the music-related chapters of the EU cultural strategy. Szép will work with the heads of the Finnish, Dutch and German music export agencies. Members of the advisory body will meet at the MIDEM fair in Cannes and the first drafts of their work will be completed early in February.
