Musicians Mark Anniversaries at Jazz Festival

Sándor Benkó, leader of the Benkó Dixieland Band, will celebrate his 70th birthday this August. The Bohém Ragtime Band and the Hot Jazz Band are both 25 years old, and the Spanish group La Vella Dixieland is 30 years old.

 
The gospel group Johnny Thompson Singers, from the United States, is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year. They last visited Hungary in 1972, playing at the Alba Regia Videoton International Jazz Festival.
 
Pál Rókusfalvy and Joe Murányi will again host the festival. The 82-year-old Murányi, who was Louis Armstrong?s last clarinettist, will present festival participants via the internet from his home in New York.
 
Last year?s festival drew 2,000-3,000 people.
