NE Hungary children's choir awarded at competition in France

A total of eight choirs, mostly from Eastern Europe, were in competition in two categories at the Florical Vocal in Tours, which is considered one of the most prestigious choir competitions in Europe, said Szilard Szilagyi.

   
The choir under the leadership of Denes Szabo has won the award for best children's choir and also the audience's award in the youth and children category. Denes Szabo is Hungary's prize-winning choir master who has followed the traditions of Zoltan Kodaly in taking his choirs to international fame since the 1980s.
   
Cantemus has 120 members and was established by the Kodaly Zoltan Primary School of Nyiregyhaza in 1974. It has won more than 20 awards at prestigious international competitions over the years.
