New Forgacs documentary receives plaudits at first int'l screening

The 100 minutes of "Hunky Blues" is based on 130 interviews, 2,500 photographs and 30 hours of film footage.

 
Peter Forgacs, who gained international recognition for his "Private Hungarians" series of films based on private footage of ordinary people, gathered together material for his latest project from the Library of Congress, the Ellis Island Immigration Museum and interviews with members of the community of New Brunswick. Forgacs was awarded the Erasmus prize in 2007.
 
The screening took place as part of the year-long series of events entitled "Extremely Hungary", which showcases Hungarian culture in New York and Washington.
