The new ministry, which will be in charge of culture, education, health, sport and social affairs, is unprecedented in Hungary's public administration system despite the fact that these five areas are interlinked in many ways, Miklos Rethelyi said.
The government plans to develop a diverse and well-structured system of cultural institutions and is open to cooperation with all participants in the cultural field, Rehelyi added.
His appointment was supported by the majority of committee members.
