The Night of the Museums attracted 152,000 people in Budapest and 83,000 in other Hungarian cities. In Budapest, the most popular draws were the National Gallery and the Museum of Fine Arts, which each brought in 12,000 visitors. The Museum of Ethnography was a close third. Other places popular with visitors during the evening were the Hungarian National Museum (8,597 visitors) and the Museum of Applied Arts (7,744). The House of Future, the Agriculture Museum, the Museum of Transportation and the Hungarian Natural History Museum each attracted about 7,000 visitors.
Other institutions participating in the evening's programmes also attracted many people. The Buda Caste Labyrinth attracted 6,500 visitors, the Kogart House had 3,215 visitors and the National Bank of Hungary welcomed 3,000 visitors. The bank held a special vote to determine Hungary's finest bank note, and visitors chose the 10,000-forint note - interestingly, not the largest denomination - with its and its portrait of King Stephen.
In Debrecen, Hungary's second-largest city, the Déri Museum attracted 7,000 visitors. In Miskolc, the third-biggest city, the Herman Ottó Museum and other smaller museums drew 20,000 visitors. Some 19,000 people visited Szeged's Móra Ferenc Museum as well as the city's cathedral. Eger's István Dobó Castle Museum had more than 6,000 visitors, the Helikon Castle Museum in Keszthely attracted 5,500 visitors, and 5,000 people came to the Wosinsky Mór Museum in Szekszárd.
