Measurements were taken in Bogdani Road, a residential area closest to the festival grounds on Obudai Island. The sound systems at each stage and catering unit were turned up at full volume to test the sound emission.

Chief organiser Karoly Gerendai said a new feature this year is that professional sound limiters have been put in place. In addition to dampening the sound, these can automatically reduce the noise level when necessary, he added.

"In the past, we had most problems with catering units but initial tests now show that everything will be fine," deputy mayor of district 3, where the festival is held, Tamas Szepessy said.

The tests showed that the noise level was below the maximum allowed 55 decibels between 11pm and 6am and below 60 decibels during the day.
