Omara Portuondo to Sing at Palace of Arts

Omara Portuondo

Born in 1930, Portuondo started her career early, dancing in cabarets. In the 1950s, she and her sister formed a band that toured the United States, and in the 1960s, Portuondo launched a solo career.  A turning point came again in 1996 when Portuondo was invited to sing on Ry Cooder's Buena Vista Social Club album.

 
Portuondo will bring to Budapest material from her new album Gracias which was published this year.
