Opera by Hungarian to Premiere in Munich

English

The German-language performance, directed by Andrea Moses, will take place as part of the 12th Munich Biennale. The production will be performed on three evenings, after which it will travel to Kiel.

Illés said the opera was based on Rilke?s earlier version of the piece, which utilises a ?special combination of lyrical language and drama?.

?A layer of sweet, romantic German language plates my full Hungarian musical language,? said Illés. ? I hope the audience will feel this novelty,? he added.

The libretto is untraditional: there are no leads, just different voices that relate a variety of feelings and thoughts.

Three sopranos, two actresses and a six-member male chorus are the cast of the production.

Earlier, an instrumental work by Illés was performed at the Munich Biennale.
