Kordonsky was earlier a director and an actor at Lev Dodin's Maly Teatr theatre in Saint Petersburg. Now he teaches in the United States but travels to Europe in the summer. The production of Platonov is Kordonsky's first production in Hungary.
Örkény Theatre spokeswoman Szilvia Vég told the Hungarian News Agency that Kordonsky would arrive in Hungary on May 18. Rehearsals are slated to begin at the end of May, after the cast has been chosen from the theatre's troupe.
The production will officially premiere in October, but three preview performances will take place on July 19, 20 and 21, Vég said.
