With the festival, the Örögmozgó aims to introduce locals to filmmakers who have enjoyed hardly any exposure in Hungary. Included among them are films Turkish directors have made abroad, such as ?Otobüs? (?Bus?) and ?Gegen die Wand? (?Head-on?).
Other films on the festival?s programme are the classic ?Yol? (?The Way?), from 1982, by director Yilmaz Güney, who became a leading figure of Turkish cinema in the 1980s. ?The Way? offers a harsh portrait of Turkey, its people and its authorities, shown through the stories of five prisoners given a week's leave to return home. The film won the Golden Palm and the FIPRESCI awards in Cannes in 1982.
?Selvi Boylum Al Yazmalim? (?The Girl with the Red Scarf?), from 1977, and ?Muhsin Bey? (?Mr Mushin?), from 1987, also showing at the festival, have both been included among a list of the ?best Turkish films of all times? compiled by Turkish cinema critics.
