The festival will include prize-winners at festivals in Karlovy Vary, San Sebastian and Moscow between 2000 and 2006. Among the directors being represented are Martin ulík and Miloslav Luther, two of Slovakia's most successful filmmakers, as well as Peter Kerekes, Jaroslav Vojtek and Marko kop, part of an up-and-coming generation of - mostly documentary - filmmakers.
ulík has made two films since bursting onto the international film scene with "The Garden" in 1995: the poetic "Landcape", in 2000, and "The City of the Sun", which critic's called Slovakia's answer to the "The Full Monty", made in 2005. Both will be on the festival's programme.
Also on the programme is Zuzana Liová's "Silence" (2005), a film about a troubled family which was a blockbuster in Slovakia.
Michaela Pavlátová's "Faithless Games", based on a script by Tina Diosi, tells the story of a young pianist who gives up her career because of her husband.
Alice Nellis's tragicomedy "Some Secrets" follows the journey of a family returning the ashes of their father from Prague back home to Slovakia.
Slovakian documentaries have received much international attention in recent years. Several are included on the Örökmozgó programme. Marko kop's "Other Worlds" (2006) was awarded the jury prize and the audience prize at last year's Karlovy Vary Film Festival. Jaroslav Vojtek's "We Are Here" (2005) is a recipient of the Slovak film critics' award.
