Following protests by the association, the Cultural Heritage Protection Office (KÖH) placed a temporary protection order on a historic building at 74 Wesselényi Street, in Erzsébetváros (District VII), shortly before its was scheduled for demolition.

The building, built in 1875, was used as a bakery and later a gun seller's. The descendants of the original owner occupied many of the flats on the building's upper level until they were given replacement homes elsewhere in the neighbourhood after the local council signed a deal with a property developer to demolish the single-storey building and construct two six-storey structures in its place. The last resident of the building, an elderly woman, was to have moved out by the end of the week. However, if the building becomes listed, the developer might pull out of the project. The purchase price for the property is to be paid by Monday.

Erzsébetváros mayor György Hunvald complains that Óvás! is shooting down all of the district's development projects. He added that the district's rehabilitation and development plans would be prepared and presented to the public early in the autumn.

Orsolya Egri of Óvás! warned that the local council is endangering the survival of valuable old buildings by putting short-term profits before long-term benefits. She said the association aims to extend the World Heritage Site status of Andrássy Street to the area around the famous tree-lined boulevard.
