László Fassang

The concert, mysteriously entitled Nine Manuals, will feature the organist László Fassang, the classical pianist Ilona Prunyi and the jazz pianist Béla Szakcsi Lakatos.

Works for the rare combination of organ and piano will comprise the first half of the programme, among them pieces by Camille Saint-Saëns, César Franck and Marcel Dupré. Franz Liszt's arrangement of the Rákóczi March for organ and piano - a piece never before played in Hungary before the inauguration of the Palace of Arts -- will also be performed.

The second half of the programme will highlight improvisations. Fassang will play Passacaglia and Fugue in C minor, then Szakcsi will improvise on the theme. Keeping in the spirit, Fassang will play a variation on the old chestnut by Johnny Mercer Autumn Leaves.

The concert will conclude with improvisations based on requests from the audience.
