Szabó's film is competing with work by directors such as Götz Spielmann, Francois Ozon, Christian Petzold, Sam Mendes, Jacques Audiard and Claire Denis at the festival which runs until March 21.
"Paper Planes has been selected for screening personally by the festival's artistic director in order to present some new faces of European film in Uruguay," said producer Attila Csáky, who is attending the festival.
