Paul Anka Promises Eclectic Mix in Budapest

English

Anka started out big in the profession, as a teen star in the late 1950s. But his heartthrob hits from the early years of his career - such as Diana, Lonely Boy and Put Your Head on My Shoulder - were not the only music Anka knew how to write. During the course of his career, he penned the Tom Jones' hit She's A Lady, the theme music for The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson and the English lyrics for Frank Sinatra's My Way. Anka's name is on 900 songs on 125 records.

Always in time with the latest musical trends, Anka has most recently released two albums of swing arrangements of contemporary standards such as Bon Jovi's It's My Life, Lionel Richie's Hello, Eric Clapton's Tears in Heaven, Spandau Ballet's True, Oasis' Wonderwall, Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit and Soundgarden's Black Hole Sun.

Anka promises to bring an eclectic mix of songs to his first performance ever in Hungary, many from the Rock Swings album.

"It is something especially exciting when the audience does not exactly know what to expect and I do not know either what the audience is going to be like," Anka says. "At times like this, it is the music that brings us all together."
