Pecs int'l cultural festival to focus on sustainable development, environment

Around 300 university students are expected to attend the festival - one of Europe's main events for students - from twenty countries, said Istvan Tarrosy.

Prominent Hungarian speakers invited to give talks include NASA research physicist Ferenc Miskolci and philosopher-writer Ervin Laszlo, who is an adviser to a former UNESCO Director-General and president of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences Jozsef Palinkas.

 
The festival in Pecs, to be Europe's cultural capital in 2010, will offer a variety of music programmes featuring among others world music from Morocco, leading new Russian rock band Deti Picasso and modern reggae ska music group Alpha Boy School from Germany's Essen, the other European culture capital in 2010.
