The campaign, with the slogan Destination Pécs - Let's Go!, launched in Budapest's West End City Centre on December 9. There, popular Hungarian artists and emcees entertained an audience and helped people interested in the Pécs2010 programme sign up to receive a newsletter about upcoming events.
In addition to the newsletter, people who sign up for Destination Pécs - Let's Go! during the nearly two-month long national campaign at theatres, universities, public spaces and hypermarkets get a "passport" that gives them different discounts each month when they take part in a Pécs2010.
"Based on the experience of these first few days it can be said that there is huge interest in the Pécs2010 programme. People continuously sign up at the information points, and already many more people have given their e-mail addresses than anticipated," said Rita Rubovszky, managing director of Hungarofest.
"The aim of the "passport" campaign is to get a public who come and visit Pécs several different times during next year for different unique programmes," said managing director of the Pécs2010 Management Centre Csaba Ruzsa.
