?One has to think big. The thing is to get programmes in the coming years that ?raise the roof?. To organise exhibitions and concerts that are unmatched and unprecedented in other cities,? said József Takáts.
Speaking at a conference entitled ?After the Cultural City?, organised by the Technical Department of the Pécs University of Sciences and the Southern-Transdanubia Architect?s Chamber, Takáts said the Pécs2010 programme had produced developments that were important contributions to the modernization of the city?s image and to changing the habits of cultural consumption in the long term. But he expressed some worry about the upkeep of the programme?s biggest investments ? the Zsolnay Cultural Quarter, a concert and conference hall and a knowledge centre --- that will require significant amounts of money to run.
