The owners of the buildings, which are all located in areas that will serve as venues for events that are part of the Pécs2010 programme, have until October to apply for funding to cover up to half of the costs of the renovation but no more than HUF 1.5 million apiece.
There are about 120 run-down buildings in need of renovation in the city, including 30 or 40 that need immediate attention either because of their condition or their central location, city clerk Judit Papp said earlier. The buildings' owners will be instructed to take action in letters. If they fail to fix up their properties, the city will resort to more forceful measures, she said.
