Csaba Ruzsa, who heads the Pécs2010 Management Centre, outlined Pécs's application for the 2010 European Capital of Culture title which focused on its geographical and historical role as a kind of gate between East and West. The city offers cultural heritage, cultural renewal and multiculturalism, he said.
Rita Rubovszky, managing director of Hungarofest, also stressed Pécs's place in the cultural life of the region that includes Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia too.
The ambassadors of the Pécs2010 European Capital of Culture programme were introduced at the tourism expo: the Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra, the Mizo Pécs 2010 women's basketball team and the investigative reporter Tvrtko Vujity.
