Pécs to Host Moveast October 7-14

On the festival programme are films from Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Serbia Croatia, Slovenia, Romania, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine, Macedonia and Hungary. Twelve films will compete for the Golden Benjamin prize and a cash purse of EUR 10,000. The jury for the competition includes the film critic Phillip Bergson, the director and screenplay writer Jasmin Durakovic, the cinematographer and director Fred Kelemen, the producer András Muhi and the director and screenplay writer Kira Muratova.

 
A three-member jury from the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) will also grant a prize for the best film at Moveast, as will a student jury.
 
The films in competition will be shown between October 8 and 12.
 

Within the framework of the competition, the Pécs University will host an elective course entitled Balkan in the Film Arts to explore the historical, political and social background of the multicultural and multiethnic Balkan region through film.

 
Moveast will also host a Film Critics Workshop led by György Báron, the chairman of the local FIPRESCI chapter, along with several other professional events, and it will show an exhibition of photographs by the Slovakian director Dusan Hanák.
 
In the competition of this year's programme will be first-time features from eleven foreign directors and two Hungarians.  Hungary will be represented by Attila Gigor's film The Inspector and Anna Faur's Girls.
