A 1.2-billion-forint contract with suppliers to the centre was signed on Wednesday. A 700-million-forint contract was signed earlier and the contract on the remaining 300 million forints will be signed by the end of June, said project manager Béla Sárkány.
University rector József Bódis expressed hope the new research centre and the staff who work there would raise the school?s global profile.
The centre, now dubbed Science Building, will be renamed after the Hungarian neuroscientist János Szentágothai from October.
The cornerstone of the building was laid on September 1, 2009, the anniversary of the establishment of the university. The building was designed by the Kossuth Prize-winning architect Zoltán Bachman.
