Leaks have appeared at the visitors' hall entrance leading to the underground burial chambers and the ground has also sunk, said Anita Bozoky of Pecs/Sopianae Orokseg.
The invaluable murals decorating tombs have not been damaged, but one of the burial chambers had to be temporarily closed, she said. After repair work the site is expected to reopen this weekend, she added.
The Necropolis of Pecs contains a number of underground tombs with impressive murals depicting Christian themes.
