The Collegium Hungaricum in Vienna organised the Pécs Beach Party at Strandbar Hermann, a popular venue in the Austrian capital ? complete with sand, between May 14 and 30.
The beach party aimed to attract young people to Pécs, which is only four hours by car from Vienna, said Collegium Hungaricum director Márton Méhes.
Musical acts with roots in Pécs performed at the bar over two weeks. They included nu-jazz band Singas Project, the folk-jazz Csőke Renáta Project, and Eszter Takács with Neofolk. Also on the programme were Barabás Lőrinc Eklektric from Budapest and such popular Austrian musicians as Karuan and DJ Sweet Susie.
