Domingo, who is the chief patron for Pécs2010, the city's European Capital of Culture programme this year, spoke together with Pécs Mayor Zsolt Páva and Consul General Géza Hetényi.
About forty people attended the reception, including members of the management of La Scala and the Los Angeles opera house, the director of London?s Covent Garden Opera and the owner of mineral water bottler San Benedetto, said Zsolt Magony, of Megakoncert, which organised the event and a press conference to raise the profile of the Pécs programme.
A similar reception is slated to take place in London in June.
