"Ever since support contracts were signed and construction contracts finalised, a delay of not even a single day has been reported," said Suchman, who is responsible for coordinating the development projects for the Pécs2010 programme. Unless winter weather causes problems, all of the projects will be completed by the respective deadlines, he added.
Progress on the projects is checked every week.
The projects, which cost more than HUF 34 billion, will make Pécs a more attractive place, Suchman said.
Nine public spaces in the city underwent renovations in 2009, and these will serve as venues for Pécs2010 events, Suchman said. Pécs will be ready to fill the role of European Capital of Culture from January 10, he added.
