The orchestra will play in Birmingham, Cambridge, Leeds, Brighton, Edinburgh, Bury St Edmunds and Newbury, Llandudno and Perth. The ensemble will be making return visits to most of the cities it will play in, having made many tours of the UK in the past forty years.
The concert programmes will include Sibelius?s Symphony No. 5, Stravinsky?s Firebird Suite, Grieg?s Peer Gynt Suite, Kodály?s Galánta Dance, Liszt?s Les préludes, Dvorák?s Cello Concerto, with soloist Nina Kotova, and Beethoven?s Piano Sonata in C-minor, with pianist Tamás Vásáry. The orchestra will also perform Mozart?s Overture to Don Giovanni, a mandatory piece on the 250th anniversary of Mozart?s birth, as it will Bartók?s Miraculous Mandarin, on the 125th anniversary of the Hungarian composer?s birth. The orchestra has played the latter just once before.
