About 500 people, including well known Hollywood directors, producers and film stars, attended the gala, said Hungary's chief consular official in Los Angeles Balázs Bokor, who was at the event.
Michale Moore, who heads the United States biggest independent studios, told trade journal Variety that although the Budapest studios would officially open on April 1, occupancy would not start until the end of the month.
In spite of the challenging economic environment, Moore remained optimistic about the investment in the Hungarian capital.
"Productions will always be going to Europe," he told Variety. "Even if didn't make economic sense, they'd go there for creative reasons."
The USD 70 million studios include a 13,700-square-metre superstage and a six-hectare backlot. The studios offers full transportation, set and location lighting and grip with Hollywood Rentals, Line Producing with Raleigh Film and a state of the art post production facility and film laboratory run by FotoKem.
