Record Number of Doors to Open for Cultural Heritage Days

English

"Sacred places" is the theme for this year's Cultural Heritage days, and churches around the city will open their doors and offer programmes for visitors. The ruins of the Magdalene Church in the Buda Castle will be "reconstructed" with a light show.

Many buildings that are ordinarily closed to the public will open their doors at the weekend. Among them are many that have been freshly renovated or are undergoing renovation, such as the Bourse Palace, which was the headquarters of Hungarian Television for decades, and the Paris Department Store on Andrássy Boulevard.

Visitors can see the Office of the President of the Republic in the Sándor Palace, the cellars of the Kőbánya brewery, the KFKI research reactor and, for the first time, the headquarters of the Hungarian News Agency, which has a rooftop terrace with a spectacular view of the city, as part of this year's Cultural Heritage Days.

The National Bank of Hungary will again open its doors. Visitors can see the room where the bank's rate-setters meet and even visit the office of the central bank governor.

Transmission system operator MAVIR will allow visitors between 10am and 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday, but on-site registration is required and visitors must produce identification.
