The exhibition of more than 30 works from the collection of Michael-Andreas Wahle show Lennon?s trademark wit and humour, but a firm technical grasp of drawing as well.
Reök Palace art director Róbert Nátyi said Lennon considered art his first passion and started drawing well before he bought his first guitar. He was talented enough to get into the Liverpool Art Academy, which he attended between 1957 and 1960. Lennon quit school to be become a full-time musician but continued to draw throughout his life.
Among the highlights of the show is a self portrait Lennon crafted from aluminium and wood in 1971.
The show also includes objects associated with Lennon, such as his trademark glasses, platinum records, photographs, poster and two lithographs by Andy Warhol.
